nbring.com
As stated on the home page, this is a simple fan-site for the worlds longest closed circuit racing track - The Nûrburgring Nordschleife. The site is currently in version 0.4 (or something like that; not finished anyway) and updates are ongoing. It will however be launched bit by bit which will result in a varying degree of content around the site. But please bear with me.
So why make a web site about the Nordschleife? Well, why not you might ask. It all began back in the days when the World Wide Web came crawling into our life’s and I found myself, as many others, intrigued and curious about many of the aspects of this new thing called a web site.
But you can’t just set up a web site as such, it requires a purpose. Being a long time racing fan and having a favourite circuit in the Nurburgring the choice became quite simple. Nbring was born. Those of you who where around at the time might remember this site from the late 90’s. It lived a quite but healthy life for a while. One memorable occasion was when Sierra released the Papyres made Grand Prix Legends racing simulator for the PC and someone on their web site put a link to my little modest site. Web hits rocketed but only for a very short while. In a couple of days the link was gone and visitors returned to normal. Well, it was fun while it lasted.
Probably the most appreciated feature of the site was the RingChart where visitors could submit descriptions of laps they’d done round the track, entries which I manually entered on the web page requiring if not a daily attention at least a regular one. As time went by my scanning of the inbox and updating of the pages became further and further apart as other aspects of life took over (I have for instance done my best raising three children)
Well now as the children has grown older and not requiring as much of your time as before there is time over for the web site. Hopefully I’ll do a better job managing it this time. We shall see…..
